Watching her mum struggle with depression spurred Namy to study psychology at university. Now she is working to improve access to mental health care for Australia’s multicultural community.

Pannamy (Namy) Touch is currently completing an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a diploma of Spanish. She also volunteers weekly at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. The hard work and sacrifices that her mum made to provide for Namy’s schooling drives her to continue to achieve in her studies.

Nominator spotlight: From student to Year 12 coordinator at Braybrook College

Mirsadet Osmani has been a teacher at Braybrook College for 16 years. ‘I am currently the Year 12 Coordinator and have been with my cohort of students since they were in Year 8, so I’ve seen them grow into fine young adults. I teach English and EAL. I have always lived in the West’.

Interestingly Mirsadet also attended Braybrook College as a student. A love of reading and books along with some excellent teachers inspired her to join the profession and become an English / EAL teacher.

We are delighted to share the news that key members of the Western Chances family, Steve Bracks and Gaye Hamilton, are taking on roles at Victoria University following the decision of the current Chancellor, George Pappas, to retire from his position at the end of 2019. Congratulations to Gaye and Steve. The Hon. Steve Bracks AC, husband of our founding Chair Terry Bracks AM, will take up the position of Chancellor from January 2021.
