National Volunteers Week 2015

This week we celebrate National Volunteer Week. Western Chances has been fortunate to have many volunteers over the years who have assisted us with a range of tasks and eased the pressure on the core team, making them integral to our success.

National Volunteers Week 2015

Every week for the last two years, Rita Zammit has been travelling to the Western Chances office from her home in Prahran.

Rita is a dedicated and extremely hard working volunteer who helps us in administration and events support capacities. We asked Rita more about why she volunteers with Western Chances

“When Rhyll (CEO) told me about the work of Western Chances I thought it was a wonderful organisation, helping young people experiencing financial barriers in the Melbourne's west. Education is so important, the most important and lasting gift that you can give to anyone so I wanted to help in some way to contribute to their success. I’m fortunate to have the time to be able to do something useful.”

When asked about what she likes best about volunteering, her face lit up as she explained “Seeing the testimonials from the young people, seeing their successes and going to Western Chances events to see their work and performances. The success rate of the scholarship recipients is so impressive and the results prove what a valuable program it is.”

Thank you to Rita, Jan, Kathy, Minh, Paula and all our volunteers in the past year for helping Western Chances and the young people we assist. If you would like to know more about volunteering with Western Chances, please contact us on .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
