Western Chances Scholarship Award ceremony – celebrating the achievements of our newest scholarship

The Scholarship Award Ceremony at Deakin Edge in Federation Square was a highlight for our scholarship recipients in 2018. Over 90 talented young people received their certificates and were recognised for excellence in the fields of leadership, advocacy, community service, art, design, debating, languages, music, dance, academic excellence and more.

In a new part to our ceremony Rhyll Dorrington CEO and Founding Chair Terry Bracks recognised 19 outstanding alumni by presenting them with their alumni certificates. We are very proud of their achievements and the impressive pathways that they are forging.

It was wonderful to see so many of you there and we know that every one of our new recipients was grateful for your support.

We were privileged to have The Hon James Merlino MP, Deputy Premier, Minister for Education open the ceremony and to have our patron Frank Vincent AO QC present the certificates alongside Western Chances Deputy Chair, Ros Willett.

Congratulations to the Master of Ceremonies and Western Chances scholarship recipient James Holland, who did an outstanding job of ensuring a smooth-running event and engaging the audience. We were excited to hear of James’ achievements which provide us all such inspiration.

The performance by scholarship recipient Jayden made the evening particularly memorable. We always feel lucky to share such talent with our community and wish Jayden all the best with his dream of dancing on Broadway.
