Refund policy

Intent

This Refund Policy helps our donors and other stakeholders understand our stance on issuing refunds and under what circumstances we are prepared to do so.

Online Donations
Donations online are made without our assistance or involvement, we ask that donors complete their details and the amount of their donation carefully.
 

Errors in Amount Pledged
Should an error be made in the amount of any donation, donors have 60 days in which to notify Western Chances of the error.
 

Change of Heart on Donation
Once donation has been made to Western Chances we do not normally give refunds if the donor changes their mind. It is for this reason that we ask donors make their choice to donate carefully.
Western Chances is under no obligation to give a refund for a donation if an error has been made on the donor’s part, but we will endeavour to ensure that any genuine errors (such as the amount donated) are rectified.
Western Chances is a non-for-profit organisation and we reserve the right to deduct any bank or transaction charges for any refund processed onto the donor. Should an error be detected and a request for refund made after 90 days have expired, Western Chances regrets that we are unable to issue a refund.
 

Event Tickets
We ask that donors try to find a replacement to attend the event in their place before requesting a refund. Where this is not possible, the following will be granted:
30 days notice - Full ticket price (minus third party fees incurred by Western Chances)
15 to 29 days notice  - 50% of ticket price (minus third party fees incurred by Western Chances)
0 to 15 days notice - No refund will be given.
Refunds will be provided in full where the event has been cancelled. Please allow 28 days for the refund to be processed. If you would like us to keep the ticket price as a donation toward the scholarship program, please let us know and we will issue you with a tax-deductable gift receipt.
 

Errors by Western Chances
Of course, should an error be made by Western Chances or its financial institution(s), full refunds will be made immediately upon notification of the error and all costs will be borne by Western Chances.
 

Refund requests
All requests for refunds must be made in writing and forwarded as follows:

  • Post: Operations Manager, Western Chances, 160 Gordon Street, Footscray, VIC 3011

The request should have the details of the initial donation including the date, amount, name of the donor or purchaser, the receipt number and the nature of the error. The Chief Executive Officer must approve all refunds prior to the refund transaction.
Should the refund be approved, any original receipt issued for the incorrect amount immediately becomes void and invalid. A new receipt will be issued where applicable.
