Our Young Ambassador
Julia Truong is the inaugural scholarship recipient Young Ambassador for Western Chances. As our official Young Ambassador, Julia regularly represents Western Chances by speaking at functions, sharing her journey and motivation to succeed, and promoting and gaining support for our work.

Western Chances has supported Julia Truong’s education and career pathway since 2008 by providing scholarships and personal and professional development opportunities. Despite enduring financial hardship, Julia has been focused and ambitious in relation to achieving her goals and dreams.
Julia completed her Bachelor of Production at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) in 2013, majoring in Production and Stage Management for theatre events. During this time, she worked on various productions around Melbourne, including a placement in the production of King Kong the Musical.
Since graduating, Julia has founded her own stage and event management company, JT. Production Management. Julia later established a second business JT. Weddings, organising many successful weddings.
From 2010 to 2012, Julia worked part-time in the Western Chances office as part of the Western Chances Links Program, helping in a variety of areas from administration to organising events. Western Chances now employs Julia to manage several events including the Scholarship Award Ceremony and the Good Business Forum.
In 2016 Julia joined the Multicultural Business Ministerial Council, an advisory body to the Victorian State Government that provides important input from the perspective of culturally and linguistically diverse business communities.
In 2016 Julia also won AustralianSuper Career Kick Start Award as part of the Victorian Young Achiever Awards.
In 2017 Julia celebrated a milestone 10 years since she ran her first event. She now employs a team of 10 people and has created a strong portfolio of projects and events.
